“Don’t be a fool and marry her!”  That had been Riordan’s advice.  He had made his disapproval of Kerry, his brother’s fiancée, quite obvious.  Jill, Kerry’s roommate, was determined to do anything she could to help her friend to happiness—and it would give her added pleasure to thwart Riordan.  She’d even go as far as setting a trap for him!  Jill was beautiful; she could have any man she wanted.  But when she challenged Riordan, he completely turned the tables on her!

“Why don’t you tell me what you think?”  Jill’s voice was challenging.  This man was too perceptive.  “I imagine a girl of your beauty is accustomed to large quantities of masculine admiration.  After a week here you might be in need of a man’s company,” Riordan suggested mockingly.  “A casual flirtation to keep in practice.”  “And I’m supposed to have tricked you into coming with me for that purpose?”  Jill demanded.  “You’ve picked a romantic setting,” he taunted.  “ A walk in the moonlight, just the two of us…alone.”  Jill swallowed involuntarily.  “If that’s my intention, surely I’d have picked a man who at least was attracted to me?  You’ve made your dislike very clear,” she answered boldly.  “But I am attracted to you,” he said.  “I may think you’re a scheming little witch—but that doesn’t lessen the desire to make love to you!”
